Meyer Davis Studio workshops rustic industrial to design an urban Italian mainstay for De Niro’s Dream Team. Meyer Davis Studio is excited to announce the opening of Locanda Verde, the new restaurant, bar and cafe in Robert De Niro’s Greenwich Hotel.
Located in the heart of TriBeCa on the corner of Greenwich and N. Moore Streets, Locanda Verde is a spacious neighborhood tavern in keeping with the hotel’s utilitarian design and the convivial hosts’ warm hospitality. The winning combination of country kitchen and contemporary cafe has disarming charm and satisfies New York’s desire for a hip, urban eating experience in a relaxed atmosphere. Locanda Verde features a bar, café with alfresco seating and Hudson River views, dining areas, open kitchen with wood-fired oven, Chef’s table, private dining room and courtyard access. The aesthetic is rustic industrial with rich, earthy tones and raw textures. Interior elements include exposed brick walls, bold wood beams, espresso banquettes, mahogany tables, terracotta floors, taupe linen curtains and dark wood finishes contrasted by white marble tops, cream kitchen tiles and ochre glass screens. Ambient lighting illuminates the space streaming the walls and lending glow to numerous open wine displays. Gun-metal grey Le Marais chairs, modern light fixtures, oversized pendants suspended by steel and leather frames and high hanging italic mirrors create a sense of a workshop at play – as does the scale of the space which at capacity caters to 230 people.
The airy expanse boasts lofty 15’6” ceilings and wrap-around glass doors which flood Locanda Verde with light and open to each street making patrons feel a natural extension of TriBeCa’s cultural hub. Meyer Davis Studio’s role in the design supports an all-star cast assembled for the launch of Locanda Verde. The list of luminaries behind the venture reads like an industry Who’s Who. Proving they set the pulse of Manhattan’s dining scene are impresarios Josh Pickard (Lever House, Lure, Chinatown Brasserie) and Ken Friedman (The Spotted Pig, The John Dory). Chef Andrew Carmellini makes his much-anticipated return following A Voce with a polished team and the promise of masterfully crafted seasonal Italian fare while former Craft Pastry Chef, Karen DeMascu will divine sweet perfection with exquisite desserts. Once sated and pleasantly surprised by its prices, savoring Locanda Verde’s vibrant scene will make for a nice digestif.
